charice
Our very own Charice Pempengco is not losing her hope that one day she will get a Grammy Award for her as a singer. Charice was discoverd in youtube and was even interviewed by Oprah in her show. After tht interview her life changed. She said that this year she was not included in Grammy but there is still many years to come and she is hoping. Right now Charice is mentored by David Foster.

Charice is back in the Philippines for a concert with Gary Valenciano, the Mr. Pure Energy. She will be back in Japan for a concert.

Here is the News Frm ABS-CBN:

MANILA, Philippines - International singing sensation Charice is still hoping to get a Grammy nomination.

In an interview after her performance at Enchanted Kingdom in Sta. Rosa, Laguna on Sunday, Charice said she has not been nominated in this year's Grammy but said that, like her, people should just wait for the right time to come.

"Hindi ako na-nominate pero marami pang taon, let's wait for that," Charice said.

For the 53rd Grammy Awards, Charice could have been nominated in two categories: Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

This year, nominees for the Best New Artist are Justin Bieber, Drake, Florence & The Machine, Mumford & Sons, Esperanza Spalding, while Sara Bareilles, Beyoncé, Norah Jones, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry were nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance category.

Charice Pempengco arrived last Saturday to launch her own line of Aficionado perfume via a concert at SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds.

On Sunday, Charice performed before her town mates in Laguna. Charice said she will be going back to Japan to stage a concert.

Strict security

For the first time, Charice and Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano shared the concert stage.

During their concert on Saturday, Charice and Valenciano’s fans were thrilled, especially when the two sang Charice's hit song, “Pyramid,” together.

Valenciano said he is honored to be on the same stage as Charice, and is proud of what the young singer has achieved in her career.

Meantime, local entertainment media are now having a hard time interviewing Charice.

Before and after her performance at the Mall of Asia, no one was allowed to get an interview with the young singer. Reports also said that people, like her fans, were also prohibited to go near her.

However, she did give an interview after her performance at the Enchanted Kingdom in Laguna. -With a report from ANC

Piolo Pascual is asking P1-Billion talent fee from ABC 5?

piolo pascual
There was a rumor that the hunk Piolo Pascual was offered by ABC 5 for the right price. This rumor has been lurking for awhile but Piolo was denying it. Lately the rumor said that he asked for a P1-billion talent fee which is good for three years. Since it is very high the station decided not to continue the contract. When Piolo was asked about this he just laugh and said that it is not true.

Here is the complete news about this article from ABS-CBN:

MANILA, Philippines – Are there truth to rumors that Piolo Pascual had demanded a whopping P1-billion talent fee from TV5 network?

Rumors also have it that Pascual’s asking price was too big for a 3-year contract that TV5 executives decided not to pursue the hunk actor anymore.

When told about the swirling rumors during a press conference for his Valentine concert, dubbed "Piolo meets the Maestro, Ryan Cayabyab," even Piolo Pascual was at a loss for words.

"Wow, sarap namang pakinggan noon. Sana totoo, wow. Pangarap lang po yon, bakit naman ganoon? Sobra naman yon," Pascual told abs-cbnNEWS.com

Will he leave his home network, ABS-CBN, if TV5 offers him P1 billion?

"Siyempre tao lang ako, pero sabi sa Bible kasi choose honor rather than riches. So, you have to protect your name before you be blinded by material stuff,” he replied. "I'm not closing my door pero epokrito naman ako kung sasabihin ko na ito na ako. I mean you know, we all want to spread our wings and we want to maximize whatever talents we are given."

But he quickly added: "Masaya pa ako. Wala po akong problema [sa ABS-CBN]."

Pascual is clueless how the issue of him transferring to another network started. He also belied reports that he already had a meeting with TV5 executives.

Switching networks is far from his mind since he is contented being a Kapamilya star, Pascual maintained. He added that he is satisfied and it shows in his “attitude toward work.”

He said he is also focusing more on how to further improve his craft “because [ABS-CBN has] been so nice to me and been so gracious.”

The actor stressed that he and ABS-CBN have a "good partnership." In fact, Pascual is set to renew his contract with ABS-CBN this February.

After his hit television series “Noah,” Pascual is lined up to do a movie with young actress Kim Chiu.

His Valentine concert with Cayabyab, meantime, will be held at the Philippine International Convention Center's Plenary Hall on February 14 at 8 p.m.

Iñigo, KC

Last Sunday, Piolo Pascual got a big surprise from his son Iñigo. As a birthday gift, Iñigo prepared a surprise video song number that was aired on musical variety show “ASAP.”

Since Iñigo's appearance on television, calls for him to join show business were renewed.

But if he has his way, Piolo Pascual said he will not allow his 13-year-old son to enter showbiz because he wants him to focus on his studies first.

“I was really caught unaware, it was really a surprise. They are all aware I’m trying to keep him from showbiz because nag-aaral ‘yong bata. Ayokong ma-divert ‘yong attention niya,” he said.

Piolo Pascual also reacted to reports that apl.de.ap of Black Eyed Peas gave KC Concepcion, his rumored girlfriend, a Tiffany bracelet as a Christmas gift.

For the actor, it was not a big deal. “Even before they met up, she told me they were having dinner and he was inviting her to fly to the States. Binigay ko pa rin naman sa kanya ang choice,” he said.

When asked if he has met apl in person, he said: “Nakita ko lang sa ‘ASAP.’ Tiningnan ko from head to toe. Joke! (Laughs).” –With Marie Lozano, ABS-CBN News

Ai Ai delas Alas got mad about Albert Martinez's Son

Ai Ai delas Alas
Ai Ai delas Alas got mad after learning that Albert Martinez son tweet about the last Metro Manila Film Festival awards that her movie is stupid. His son criticized the award giving body especially when Wenn Deramas won as best director for his "Tanging Ina" movie. Ai Ai said that the movie was the fruit of hardship and they tried their best to come up with the best movie. She said that it is not the movie but the respect for older people. Ai Ai is a friend of both Albert Martinez and Liezel. Ai Ai said that their son should learn how to respect older people.

Ai Ai has mixed emotion when she learned about the news from their son. It was learned earlier that Albert Martinez was snubbed by the jurors and was not even nominated as best director. On the other hand the director (Wenn Deramas) was disappointed by the tweet.

Here is the news taken from ABS-CBN:

Ai-Ai de las Alas surprised Sharon Cuneta at her birthday concert held at the Araneta Coliseum last Tuesday night (January 11). The Comedy Concert Queen performed a sexy and acrobatic dance number, saying that she was dedicating her performance to the birthday celebrant.

Ai-Ai is still overwhelmed by the box office success of her movie, Tanging Ina Mo: Last Na ‘To, which has already grossed P179 million. Ai-Ai expressed her gratitude to all those who supported her movie.

On the other hand, the comedienne expressed her dismay over the insulting statement of Alfonso Martinez—son of Albert Martinez and Liezel Martinez—which he posted on his Twitter account. Alfonso’s statement criticized the organizers of the Metro Manila Film Festival, because he was not satisfied with Wenn Deramas (Tanging Ina director) winning the Best Director trophy. Albert’s son also criticized Ai-Ai’s movie and described it as stupid. Albert was the director of another MMFF entry, Rosario, but the actor-director failed to get a nomination.

Ai-Ai said that she had mixed emotions when she read the message. “Halo-halo gulat, pagtataka, atsaka bakit kailangan niyang sabihin ‘yon?” she complained. “’Yun lang naman ‘yung akin, kasi pinaghirapan ang pelikula. Kapag wala kang masyadong alam tungkol sa industriya, I think wala ka namang masyadong karapatang magsalita ng ganon about stupidity.” The actress added that she did not like the “F” word that Alfonso used in his tweet. “Hindi ‘yun sinasabi ng isang taong nakapag-aral kaya nga ang sabi ko kaibigan ko si Liezel, kaibigan ko si Albert pero mas kaibigan ko si Liezel, sasabihin ko nga turuan n’ya ‘yung anak niya na gumalang sa matatanda.”

More than the movie, Ai-Ai pointed out that Alfonso should learn how to be respectful. “Hindi ito about the movie, about ito sa respeto mo sa kapwa mo. Hindi lamang respeto bilang tao sa industriya. Hindi ka magsasalita ng ganon.”

Liezel had apologized and justified that her son was just carried away by his emotions since his father was supposedly snubbed by MMFF. But Ai-Ai stressed, “Kahit na. Dapat pinapaliwanag nila sa anak nila na ang pagkatalo ay part ng buhay. Mga anak ko kahit matalo ako wala naman akong naririnig na ganun kaya siguro dapat i-guide ang mga bata.”

Asked if she tried to call up Liezel, Ai-Ai said that she does not know Liezel’s contact number anymore. “Pero dapat siguro personal siyang mag-sorry kay Direk (Wenn), tingin ko lang.”

Ai-Ai also defended Direk Wenn’s reaction on Alfonso’s tweet. She continued that it is normal that Direk expressed his disappointment with someone who does not see the whole picture. “Kasi hindi naman talaga maganda ‘yung statement and I think ‘yung mga tweet-tweet na ‘yan sana tigilan na ‘yung mga tweet-tweet na ‘yan kasi bukod sa negative siya, marami siyang sakit at away na nangyayari. Nag-aaway nagsasakitan, napaka negative, I think dapat itigil na lang ‘yan.”
