MANILA – Singer Charice on Sunday ended speculations about her sexual preference by finally admitting that she is indeed a lesbian.
In an interview with Boy Abunda aired on “The Buzz,” Charice said: “Opo, tomboy po ako.”
An emotional Charice also apologized to her family and fans who are disappointed by her coming out.
From the bottom of my heart, sorry. Naiintindihan ko kayo.”
Earlier in the interview, Charice admitted that she and her mom are not in good terms but said it is just normal for a mother and her child to have misundertandings.
Pero I have to give her credit na tina-try niyang intindihin ang sitwasyon. Nag-aaway po kami pero normal lang po iyon,” she said.
Charice, however, clarified that she is not rebelling against anyone, especially her family.
Same-sex relationship
Without naming names, Charice also admitted she has had same-sex relationships.
“Opo, naman. Siyempre hindi ko naman masasabi kung sino pero opo naman na-experience ko po iyon,” she said.
However, she denied that she had a relationship with former “The Voice” finalist Cheesa Laureta.
“I remember nag-post kami ng picture ni Cheesa na ang caption ko ‘my baby girl’ kasi nakita namin sa timeline namin sa Twitter namin na jowa, jowa daw. Pero no po. Si Cheesa is like a big sister. Hindi po totoo,” she said.
On Alyssa Quijano
Last month, Charice made headlines after it was reported that she supposedly ran away from home to elope with former “X Factor” finalist Alyssa Quijano.
According to Charice, she is now staying at a house in Cabuyao, Laguna with the people whom she never thought would “catch a bullet for me.”
Asked who is Quijano in her life, the former “Glee” star said: “She’s an inspiration. She’s a very special person.”
Charice said she and Quijano have known each other since they were 10 years old but it was only during “X Factor” that their paths crossed again.
Quijano was a member of the group contestant AKA Jam, while Charice was among the show’s judges.
Asked if she loves Quijano, the singer said: “Sana mabuksan niyo ang puso ko para makita niyo. Malakas ang tibok.”
Furthermore, Charice admitted she is hoping to marry in the future.
Career
While her continuous absence in the local showbiz scene has puzzled her fans, Charice assured her supporters that she will be back in the limelight again soon.
And TV shows na lalabasan ko pero hindi ko puwede sabihin,” she told Abunda.
The singer said she will also be working on her third solo album soon for her fans in the Philippines
Charice said she is still being managed by Mark Johnson in connection with her career in the United States, while she still remains under the management of Glen Aldueza here in the Philippines.
“It’s very nice to have 'yung tao na kilala ka, alam 'yung gusto mo at ayaw mo,” she said.
