Branding by endorsement

Actors are used for modeling clothes, foods, drinks and even perfumes. They get big sum of money when they endorse anything. Like for example Sharon Stone endorsed Christian Dior products. She received millions of dollars but lately she got some problem in China when she said that karma is the cause of earthquake in that country. If I were to ask you, would you go for quality or branding? Which is more important quality or brand?

Guess products are also very famous because of the endorser but I think the quality is not that good compared to other clothes brand. Branding makes the products famous but it will not last long if the quality is not that durable and of course the price will also matter.
