Robert Downey Jr. will no longer be in "Oz: The Great and Powerful". The Disney is eying the handsome Johnny Depp to join. Right now Depp is busy with other film. If he is not busy and his schedule is free then most likely he will accept the offer.

Robert Downey Jr who was jailed because of drug related case is a good actor. He portrayed Charlie Chaplin and even got a nomination in Oscar a couple of years ago.

You'll probably still get to go off and see the Wizard of Oz, but he won’t be played by Robert Downey, Jr.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Downey has dropped out of Sam Raimi’s “Oz: The Great and the Powerful,” and Disney is hoping Johnny Depp will step in.


Raimi’s “Oz" tells the story of “a young illusionist” who, after being ejected from a traveling circus, gets swept off to Oz in a hot air balloon during a tornado. Of course, the land is already run by two magical witches.

The studio is aiming to begin production on the movie later this year, and whether Depp is up for it will depend largely on timing.

The 48-year-old actor, whose films "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" and "Rango" arrive in theaters this year, is scheduled to begin shooting Tim Burton’s “Dark Shadows” in the spring, not to mention that he’s also expected to play Tonto in Disney’s “Lone Ranger.”

Raimi's film, however, isn't the only "Wizard"-related production out there. There's also "Dorothy of Oz," a 3-D animated feature starring Lea Michele, Kristin Chenowith, Kelsey Grammer, Martin Short and Hugh Dancy that should arrive in 2012.

I just read last week that Oprah has a family secret. She said that she will reveal it in her show. Oprah who thought that her life is an open book but she got the bog shock in her life when she learned that she has a secret sister. Oprah tell it by herself because she doesn't want that the media will exploit this situation. Her sister Patricia was put up for adoption at birth but she longed for her foster mother. She spent much of her life in a foster care.

Oprah Winfrey revealed on her television show Monday morning that she has a half-sister she knew nothing about.

The sister, Patricia, had been kept a secret by Oprah's mother who put her up for adoption at birth.

"For the most part my life has been an open book," Oprah said. "I thought nothing could surprise me but I was wrong."

Winfrey said she chose to make the announcement herself so the media would not exploit it. Her sister, Patricia, spoke about being put up for adoption at birth, spent time in foster care and longed to be reunited with her foster mother.

By 17 she was a single mother, Patricia said, and six years later she had another child. When she was 20, she sought out information about her birth mother and then let it go until years later, Patricia said.

The agency contacted Patricia in 2007 with the news that her birth mother did not want to meet her on the same day she saw a local news story that had an interview with Oprah's mother which gave her information that matched up with what Patricia knew about her birth family.

"We realized that Oprah could be my sister," Patricia said.

Winfrey told her audience that it was true that Patricia was her sister. Patricia said she kept her family connection a secret after unsuccessfully trying to reach Oprah's mother, Vernita Lee.

Patricia tracked down Winfrey's niece who is the daughter of Oprah's other half-sister. The pair did a DNA test and it was revealed that they were indeed aunt and niece. That started the ball rolling with family members reaching out to Winfrey who eventually confirmed with her mother that the story was true.

Winfrey shared with the audience home video of her first meeting with her sister this past Thanksgiving Day when Winfrey and her partner Stedman Graham drove to Milwaukee to finally meet her sister.

Winfrey broke down a bit when expressing why she admires her half-sister so much. The talk show host said she has had so many people betray her since she became a celebrity and she was moved by the fact that Patricia kept the story secret.

"She never once thought to go to the press," Winfrey said. "She never once thought to sell this story."

Ironically, Winfrey also had another half-sister named Patricia who died in 2003. That sister was unable to overcome drug abuse and her resemblance to her new half-sister was noted often. Winfrey said she had placed that sister twice into rehab.

"For me, you are Pat on her very best day,” Winfrey said to her new half-sister. “You are who she wanted to be without the drugs.”

The pair sat down with their mother, Vernita Lee, and Oprah asked about her feelings learning about and being reunited with Patricia.

"I was so shocked to know that she was trying to get in touch with me," Lee said. "When I first heard about her, I wasn't afraid but I was a little leery."

Winfrey said she had an epiphany after leaving the meeting at her mother's house: that Lee has been unable to fully embrace her new daughter because she is still carrying the shame of what she had done.

"I would like to say to our mother, you can let that shame go," Winfrey said. "You can let that go."

Winfrey also said that she had a realization about her deceased sister Pat who had sold the story of Winfrey's out-of-wedlock pregnancy to the tabloids which caused a rift between them.

Winfrey said meeting her new half-sister helped her realize that her other sister going to the tabloids was actually beneficial.

"For the first time, I realized that was a gift to me," Winfrey said. "It was gift because it released me from my shame."

Winfrey asked Patricia what has been the most rewarding part of the journey for her.

"Getting my family," she said.

Calls Megastar's daughter his 'princess'

MANILA, Philippines - Hunk actor Piolo Pascual on Sunday finally broke his silence on the real score between him and actress-TV host KC Concepcion.

Concepcion became his girlfriend on October 21 last year, he revealed.
"It took me 2 years (before she said yes). Tsaka na 'yung detalye. Basta that's one of the best days of my life. For the first time in more than 8 years, I'm getting into a relationship, a commitment. And I'm planning to keep it," he told The Buzz host Charlene Gonzales.

Asked about his term of endearment to Concepcion, Pascual said, "I call her my princess."

For months, Pascual and Concepcion have been mum on the status of their relationship, saying that they want to stay away from the "huzzles and buzzles" of showbiz.

Pascual, in particular, wanted to keep things private so as not to affect his 13-year-old son, Iñigo.

"The reason why I never admitted naman was because may pinoprotektahan ako. I have a son, ayaw mong magkaroon ng ibang reaction 'yung bata. He's only 13 years old," he explained.

He continued, "Mahirap talaga (for her) and I found it too unfair kasi siya lagi ang nagsasalita. So finally a couple of days ago I said na it's time for me to speak up...it's also my responsibility para she's not left in the dark, para hindi siya nahihirapang sumagot."

The hunk actor also apologized to Concepcion, "Sorry if it took me this long. It's a thorn off my chest, I must say."

'KC is taken'

Pascual said he also decided to announce his relationship with Concepcion so the latter's admirers would no longer consider courting the actress.

Among those rumored to have expressed interest in the Megadaughter are Azkals football player Phil Younghusband, actor Sam Milby apl.de.ap, the Filipino member of American hip hop group Black Eyed Peas.

"Para matigilan na rin 'yung mga nagpaparinig kay Kristina (laughs)," Pascual said.

He added, "I wouldn't want to watch another interview para may magsabi na may crush sa kanya or gustong makipag-date. I just want them to know that she's taken."

Pascual thanked Concepcion for "sticking it out with me" and for being "sobrang sobrang patient and understanding." 

Asked if Concepcion is the woman he's willing to spend the rest of his life with, the hunk actor said, "Siguro di naman ako aamin nang ganito or magta-take ng risk kung sa tingin ko di ko siya gusto makasama habangbuhay."

Reactions

After the interview, Pascual went straight to Concepcion's dressing room and gave his girlfriend a big hug, according to Boy Abunda, one of the hosts of The Buzz.

"It had really been a struggle for KC. Kasi hindi madali sa babae na 'pag tinatanong na 'are you together' will say na 'no it shouldn't come from me," Abunda said.

The Buzz host Toni Gonzaga, for her part, announced that Pascual first proposed to Concepcion in September 21, 2010, but the actress-host wanted some time to think and traveled to Europe.

After a month, Concepcion said yes.

"Hindi dapat KC ang pangalan niya ngayon. Rapunzel. Haba ng hair, abot na sa labas ng studio," Gonzaga said in jest.

Concepcion, meanwhile, broke into tears upon knowing that they can finally make their relationship public.

"Ang dami-dami naming pinagdaanan ni PJ, kung alam niyo lang. He's a good guy, a really really good guy," she said.

She ended, "It was very sincere...Thank you, PJ, for being honest today."

Baron Geisler maintains innocence when Interviewed by Boy Abunda

Baron Geisler denied that he touched Chery Pie Picache breasts when interviewed by Boy Abunda in the Buzz. It can be recall that Chery Pie Picache complained and reported Baron Geisler to the PAMI with her manager that Baron Geisler touched her breasts.

Baron was accused not only with Chery Pie Picache but by other women like Jasmin Kurdi, Julia Clarete and the daughter of William Martinez but all of these are denied by Geisler.

MANILA, Philippines – Embattled actor Baron Geisler has sat down with “The Buzz” host Boy Abunda to answer all the controversies he is facing.

In the interview, Geisler vehemently denied allegations by veteran actress Cherry Pie Picache that he touched her breasts while doing a scene for television series “Noah.”
Geisler also maintained his innocence on the three other incidents of harassments leveled against him. Patricia Martinez, daughter of celebrity couple Yayo Aguila and William Martinez, charged him with unjust vexation in 2008.

Actress Yamien Kurdi also filed the same complaint in 2009.
It has also been reported that he harassed Julia Clarete, but the actress had never granted any media interview. Geisler denied harassing Clarete.

Geisler, however, admitted that he is alcoholic and that he is seeking help. “The Buzz” reported that a series of misfortunes – including his break-up with Jodi Sta. Maria – allegedly led the actor to turn to alcoholic beverages.

He also called on the public to forgive him and not to forget him when he is inside a rehabilitation facility for 3 months. He expressed to wish to revive his career when he gets out.

In light of the incident, the multi-awarded actor has been removed from "Noah."
The Professional Artist Management, Inc (PAMI), an organization of big and influential talent managers in the country, has called on its members to prohibit their talents from working with Geisler.

Boy Abunda - Sa lahat ng mga kasong na-involve ka, ito nga 'yong dalawang kaso mo kay Yasmien at Patricia, are you innocent?
Baron - Yes.
Boy: You are?
Baron: Yes. I have a question for you. People keep saying, 'So, sinungaling 'yong apat na babaeng yan?' Tito Boy, if you were a woman and I touched and I violated you, what would be your reaction? What would you do? Ohh, first thing you'd do, I'll sue you. What would you do?
Boy: Magagalit ako.
Baron: And then?
Boy: Sasampalin kita.
Baron: You'd make a scene, right?
Boy: It depends.
Baron: All four, no scenes. Puro diretso na i-ano ako. Why?
Boy: Okay, there are many ways of coping with abuse.
Baron: So, lahat sila pare-parehong...
Boy: What I'm trying to say is, is that what you're trying to say na lahat sila ay after thought ang pagpunta sa husgado?
Baron: I believe so. Why sa complaints nila ni wala man lang nagkaroon ng commotions? Kung totoo man, nagustuhan muna tsaka naisip na, 'Ay, nagalaw ako. Sige punta muna ako ng ano. Puwede pa lang kasuhan ito si Baron. Sige, kasuhan na natin.'
Doon ako galit. Kasi nagiging madali na lang para sa kanila na kasuhan ako o gawan ng ano... Eh, kung talagang may nangyaring ganyan, usually may pag-uusap yan eh. Hindi 'yong diretso na 'Yan si Baron, manyak.'
Boy: Why is this happening?
Baron: Because I'm an easy target. Because they think I'm drunk and stupid. I'm sorry for getting mad.
Alcohol problem
Boy: Baron, take me to that experience when you are drunk. Alam mo ba ang nangyayari, alam mo ba ang iyong ginagawa? Conscious ka ba na kapag nag-umpisa kang uminom, nababago ang iyong pagkatao?
Baron: Opo.
Boy: Ah, you are.
Baron: Kasi ang dami na pong pangyayari na nakakalimutan ko, sinasabi ng mga tao.
Boy: Naaalala mo ang mga nangyayari pag nalalasing ka?
Baron: May mga instances na black out pero depende po yan sa amount na nainom ko. Bumalik po tayo doon sa taping [ng Noah]. Noong taping na 'yon inaamin ko na uminom ako. From 3 in the afternoon hanggang 11 kasi ang call time po namin 3. So, I started, bumili po ako ng anim na can ng beer.
Boy: Baron ang tanong, was this the first time na nagreport ka sa isang set na nakainom or have you done this in the past?
Baron: I've done this.
Boy: But you are under control?
Baron: Under control. May parang masamang ugali rin ako na kailangang ayusin pag pasok ko doon sa facility na pupuntahan ko. 'Yong pagre-rebelde or parang minsan somehow nagiging parang mayabang.
On Picache's case
Boy: Itong nangyari sa inyo ni Pie, ano ba talaga ang totoo. Binastos mo ba talaga si Cherry Pie Picache.
Baron: Sa totoo lang ho, 'yong saloobin ko, nanay po siya, di ba? Kung kapamilya talaga ang turing din niya sa akin, 'yong mga bagay na ganito, kaya ako nagwala sa set after noon, kasi I apologized.
Siguro hindi na natanggap noong time na 'yon.
Boy: Pag katapos mangyari, nag-apologize ka?
Baron: Yeah. Twice. To tell you the truth, I was just doing my job. If she felt violated or offended with my actions...
Boy: Did she tell you that she was violated?
Baron: Yeah, she said.
Boy: And that's the reason you apologized?
Baron: Yeah. , she said and I apologized. Sabi ko, 'Naka-gloves po ako, wala po akong intensyon na hawakan po kayo.' Twice. In front of her. Then, I went out and... 'yon ang sinasabi nilang nagwala ako. Doon na ako nagmumura sa labas ng set.
Boy: Bakit nagmumura ka?
Baron: Kasi feeling ko na-push yong buttons ko din kasi everyone knows na may dalawa akong kaso about sexual harassment. And para sa akin talaga I didn't really intend to touch her boob. At lumalabas pa sa balita nilamas or dinakma. Paano mo gagawin sa eksena na mangdakma? Ang Sakit sa akin noon.
Boy: And nakainom ka lang, you weren't drunk?
Baron: Nakainom lang, I wasn't drunk. That is why for me ang sakit. Ang sakit but wala na akong choice.
Boy: But in spite of this, buong puso kang naga-apologize kay Pie?
Baron: Yes.
Boy: And you continue to apologize?
Baron: I feel sorry and I'm sorry if she really felt violated. I'm very sorry about that. But I will not apologize for touching her, sa taas.
Boy: Was it required by the role? Was it provided in the script that you were supposed to touch her boobs?
Baron: No, no,I didn't touch her boobs.Sorry, sorry...
(He then got up from his seat and reenacted the scene)

PAMI
Baron: Nagalit po ako, bilang tao, walang plastikan, bilang tao, of course. Parang why? Were you there when it happened? Did you investigate? Did you ask the cameramen? Did you ask these people? No. But I don't care anymore. If you don't need the evidence, that's fine.
To me, right now, I don't care about yong gulo. Right now, I want to concentrate on myself, on my family, my relationships with my brothers and sisters. Kasi I think doon magsisimula sa bahay po.

Boy: Is that the reason why it was very difficult for you to apologize... very difficult for you to do the public apology, the No. 3 requirement of PAMI?
Baron: Yeah, it was very difficult for me. Kasi for me, I do not owe anyone sa labas in public to know if I'm sorry or not. Bakit hindi na lang inayos noong kami kami na lang. I think that is more human.
Boy: Hindi mo binastos si Cherry Pie?
Baron: Hindi po pero naga-apologize po ako kung naramdaman niyang na-violate po siya kasi I respect her like a mother.
Rehab
Baron: PAMI is doing me a really big favor. It's a win-win situation because they are helping me to get better. After that, my career is going to get better.
Boy: Baron, I just want to get back to four cases kasi I listen to you, I hear you out. Di ba, may kasabihan tayo mga tao lang tayo... Ito ang pananaw ng iba, bakit dalawa, tatlo, apat. Can they all be wrong?
Baron: Hindi naman po. I'm not saying that they are wrong.
Boy: Or maniac? It came from you. When people say that?
Baron: Is it okay I'm getting mad. I think it's disrespectful.
Boy: No, no not disrespectful. You are expressing an honest opinion, Baron. So, when people tagged you as maniac, what does that make you?
Baron: It takes away every inch of my backbone. It ruins my bearing. And it makes me feel less of a man.

Boy: Has show business been unfair to Baron?

Baron: Yes.

Baron: I just love them (family) so much.

Baron: Right now, everything's good. I was with her kanina, sa doctor. Sinabi nga niya sa doctor na, 'You know, I'm very happy kasi when Baron's sober. But when he drinks...' Doon talaga siya sobrang disappointed kasi when I'm okay, kunwari one month straight hindi ako umiinom, sobrang happy niyan. So whenever, I drink again, nagiging dysfunctional ang relationship namin.
Boy: You put them into so much emotional stress?
Baron: I know that that's why I'm seeking help.
Boy: Are you sorry?
Baron: Of course... but I believe that ang mga bagay na ganito, there are times na a mom would know her son very well. And she will stick with her son.
Boy: Where do you go from here?
Baron: I hope after I heal myself and I really learn from it. And choose life over the bottle and just drop it, I wish, I pray that I walk the talk and I'll leave it up to Him to take care of me.
Ang hinihiling ko lang, sama after everything, after disgrace both sa showbiz sa family, passion ko talaga ang acting, sana hindi mawala sa akin. Sana tanggapin pa din ako ng mga tao, ng industriya. At tanggapin nila ako ng buong buo sa pagbabago.

Baron: There's this one phrase that Ate Garlic said. I was broken after the incident, I have been broken even before the incident. Pero she said something to me.But she said something to me. Sabi niya, 'God breaks you to make you.' After that, boom,bumuo na ako. And I said wala na akong pakialam. Hindi ko muna iisipin yong career o yong anong mangyayari after rehab. I'm just going to take care of myself and really get better. I'm sorry (breaks down). I've been emotional lately.

After hearing that line, I just felt whole again. Panandalian lang itong nangyayari... I'll be my greater self when I get out.
Boy: If dad is alive, what would you tell him? (Geisler's dad died in 2002)
Baron: I just miss you.

MANILA, Philippines - Ms. Raquel Pempengco, mother of international singing sensation Charice, on Thursday said her daughter's fans should not be blamed for being angry with entertainment journalist-host Ogie Diaz.
In a message sent to abs-cbnNEWS.com, Mrs. Pempengco said Diaz cannot do anything if the "Chasters" get mad at him because of what he said against Charice.
“You cannot blame all Charice fans, especially ‘Chasters’, to speak out what’s in their mind against you Ogie D....You cannot blame them if they won’t accept your apology because of what you did to their idol.
"Because as you said ‘Ogie Diaz,’ they have their own opinion and that’s their opinion too...," Charice's mom said.
Diaz has drawn flak from Charice Pempengco fans, known as the Chasters, after he made several negative comments against the singer.

Diaz has apologized to the 18-year-old singer and her fans for saying that the singer's nerdy glasses "looks ugly on her." He also said sorry for saying that the “Pyramid" singer was “acting like a foreign artist” in the Philippines.

Charice drew flak from the entertainment press for reportedly snubbing them after the “1@11” concert at SM Mall of Asia.

Fans of the pint-sized chanteuse, collectively called the Chasters, lashed back at Diaz and vowed to boycott all his projects.
Diaz: I've already apologized

In a separate interview, Diaz maintained that he is still sorry if his opinions hurt or offended anyone but stressed that he already did his part to do what was right.
"I've done my part as a person to apologize. Kung ayaw pa din nila akong patawarin wala akong magagawa kasi opinion nila 'yon. Ako, ang point ko lang ay sinabi ko kung ano lang ang opinion ko," Diaz said.

Diaz, host of “Entertainment Live,” also denied making harsh comments against Charice’s mom. His denial came after his own mother became the target of harsh comments because of what he said against the young singer.

"Ang importante sa akin ngayon ay ang magandang relasyon ko sa sarili kong ina. Sa mga fan na galit pa din dahil sa opinion ko eh pakiyakap ang mga mommy nila para sa akin dahil naging mabuti silang anak," he said.

Diaz acknowledged that his public apology is not enough. He said he will personally apologize to Charice once they see each other.
Diaz already deleted all his tweets regarding the singer. He has more than 94,000 followers on Twitter.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Universal has screen tested up-and-comers such as Riley Keough ("The Runaways") and Emily Browning ("Sucker Punch") for the lead in the live-action fairy tale, but is keen on having Stewart, 20, play the damsel in distress.

Though the studio is trying to woo Stewart, she's been shooting the last "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn" film and has not yet committed to the project.

Meanwhile, Viggo Mortensen is reportedly in negotiations to play "Snow White's" titular huntsman, who is the focus of the movie and protects Snow White from the evil queen. Charlize Theron is currently the favorite to play that role.

Coincidentally, Julia Roberts is also set to play the evil queen in a rival film, "The Brothers Grimm: Snow White."

Oscar Nominations: Who was snubbed?

The nominations for Oscar Awards that will be shown live on the last week of February are already released a week ago.

The "King Speech"was nominated for 12 awards that include best actor category. "Social Network" is nominated 8 times but not for actors and many people are not surprised. Here are the list of Nominees for 83rd Academy Awards:

Even if the list of nominees are good but there are people or film that are left in the dust. Almost everyone were surprised about the exclusion of Mark Wahlberg in the "The Fighter because some of his co-stars where nominated for supporting categories. Ryan Gosling was also excluded but Michelle Williams was nominated as Best Actress in "Blue Valentine". Paul Diamatti who won best actor in Golden Globe was also left out.

Among the actresses are Mila kunis and Barbara Hershey were missing as best supporting actress nominees. They are good in "Black Swan". Julia Moore who is also good in "the kids are alright" although she might compete Annette Bening. This Annette Bening is nominated many times but never won an Oscar.


This leads to the question of another possible snub - do you think Oscar winner Halle Berry should have gotten a nod for her "Frankie & Alice" role (the same one that earned the actress a Golden Globe nod in the best actress category)?

After coming from Uganda as a UN ambassadress KC was asked by reporters about her and Piolo Pascual but she said that it is better to ask the later about them because she said that she is always in the hot seat. KC is not vocal about their rumored relationship. KC said that it was her mum Sharon Cuneta who was always in contact with her while she was in Uganda.

She also refused to disclose whether they had the chance to meet after her trip. Piolo Pascual is set to serenade his fans this Valentine’s Day at his major concert entitled Piolo meets the Maestro Ryan Cayabyab on February 14 at the PICC Plenary Hall. The Ultimate Heartthrob will be performing some of the most loved ballads arranged by renowned composer/musician Ryan Cayabyab. Piolo said he is just thankful that in the years that he’s been doing concerts here and abroad and releasing studio albums, the support of his fans has remained unwavering. “I’ve just released my seventh album. MANILA, Philippines – Hunk actor Piolo Pascual has given his reaction to Azkals heartthrob Phil Younghusband's public declaration that he has a crush on actress KC Concepcion.
In an interview with “Showbiz News Ngayon” during the unveiling of the QuattroMondial monument at the University of Sto. Tomas on Thusday, Pascual disclosed that he does not have anything against Younghusband since anybody is entitled to his or her own feelings.
“I guess anybody is entitled to that. Hindi naman mapipigilan ang mga tao to express their intention or say what they feel. May security naman so wala tayong problema,” he said.
Although they never admitted that they are officially a couple, Pascual and Concepcion have been vocal about their closeness.

Piolo Pascual, meanwhile, belied reports saying that he is prohibiting Concepcion from doing a kissing scene with actor Sam Milby in their upcoming movie.

She was young then and very beautiful little did I know that she will become one of the best and known actress in the world. She was also linked to Tom Cruise and did "Vanilla Sky" which was a repeat for her because she did it already this film in Spain with Eduardo Noriega. Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem met each other when they did "Jamon! Jamon!" in 1992. There last film was in 2008 "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" in which Penelope Cruz won best supporting actress in academy awards or Oscar.

MADRID - Oscar-winning Spanish film stars Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem have become the parents of a baby boy, their first child, born in Los Angeles, Spanish media reported Wednesday.
Cruz gave birth at the Cedars Sinai medical centre in Beverly Hills on Saturday, the Spanish celebrity magazine Hola! said on its website.

It gave no details on the name of the boy or his birth weight.
The birth came just three days before Bardem received his third Academy Award nomination, for his performance in the film "Biutiful" by Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu.
Cruz, 36, and Bardem, 41, met when they starred opposite each other as lusty teens in the Spanish film "Jamon, Jamon," back in 1992.

In 2008 they were back together on the silver screen in Woody Allen's "Vicky Cristina Barcelona", for which Cruz won an Academy Award as best supporting actress.
The couple married in July last year at a ceremony in the Bahamas.
Bardem, also nominated for an Oscar in "Before Night Falls" (2000), won an Academy Award in 2007 for his role in "No Country for Old Men."

Spain's leading daily, El Pais, also reported the couple had become parents but did not provide details as to when the baby was born or whether it was a boy or a girl.
It said "friends of Bardem began to suspect (the baby was born) when the actor did not respond to any calls to congratulate him on his (Oscar) nomination."

"The couple want to have as much privacy as possible," the paper said on its website, quoting family sources.
The agency representing the couple in Spain declined to comment on the reports.
The actors had kept their romance quiet for years, but Bardem got personal when he won a best actor award at Cannes film festival in May for his role in "Biutiful."
"I share the joy of this prize with my friend, my companion, my love, Penelope Cruz," Bardem said at the time.
"I owe you so much, and I love you very much," Bardem said, drawing tears from Cruz, a longtime muse of Spanish director Pedro Almodovar.

Hola! said Cruz's mother, Encarna, sister Monica, also an actress, and her brother Eduardo were in Los Angeles for the birth at Cedars Sinai, the hospital of choice for Hollywood stars.

MANILA, Philippines - Starting this year, a Bb. Pilipinas-World crown will no longer be among the top three plums in the iconic Bb. Pilipinas pageant. There will be a separate search for Miss World Philippines, the winner of which will represent the country in the Miss World contest.

Julia Morley, chairman and CEO of Miss World Limited, arrived on Monday to announce the awarding of the exclusive licensee agreement of Miss World Philippines to media personality and wellness guru Cory Quirino who will take charge of the first Miss World Philippines tilt this August.

In a press conference at the Shangri-La Makati yesterday, Morley said they made the move so they can focus on their socio-civic projects and raise more funds for poor beneficiaries in the Philippines, particularly the PGH Medical Foundation and Tuloy Street Children Foundation.

“The job of Miss World is always for fund-raising. The crown is a symbol of fund-raising. Our aim, our vision at Miss World is always ‘Beauty with a Purpose.’ What is a crown without a purpose?’” explained Morley who is in Manila for the first time since Miss World was established in 1951.

Also present at the presscon were reigning Miss World Alexandria Mills (of USA), 2010 Miss World first runner-up Emma Wareus, 1973 Miss World first runner-up Evangeline Pascual and 1993 Miss World Second Princess Ruffa Gutierrez.

Morley clarified that she has no intention to offend or rile Madame Stella Marquez Araneta, head of the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI) in the decision to hold an individual Miss World contest. She reiterated that her primary reason to separate is to focus more on their vision to raise funds for their beneficiaries and they can do this if they hold a separate contest.

2010 Miss World Alexandria Mills (of USA): Beauty with a purpose “The truth is I needed to give the Philippines as many opportunities. We need to raise funds for poor and sick at the PGH for their ventilation, the antibiotics, more medical equipment. The thing is I want to be involved. I can’t do that if we don’t have an individual contest. I don’t have a voice here before and now I want to be involved, I want to be connected. We have big plans to raise money for the children,” said Morley.

She said her heart bled when she paid a visit to the PGH and saw the miserable conditions of the children, particularly a scene when a nurse was operating a manual ventilator to an asthma patient.

“The thing is I don’t want to battle with anyone. This is not a fight, there is no dispute. We will always honor other beauty contests. I know that during the time that Stella ran the tilt with Miss World, she’s done a good job. But now, I would like to have my own contest so I can be more involved. I want my own brand and not be lumped with other people. I want to stand alone for Filipino children.”

She expressed hope that Madame Araneta will not take offense.

“She has three or four titles and if she’s got one less to worry about, then it’d be good. I don’t want to be childish or selfish. There are too many nasty things in the world. Being negative is not good for the people.”Morley also said the awarding of the license was a highlight of her world tour, calling it a momentous occasion for Miss World organizers.

The organization is currently celebrating its 60thyear of “Beauty with a Purpose” and has raised more than $400M in support of children’s charities across the globe since its inception.

“The Philippines is a great country and has the most beautiful places so we’d be excited if we can hold it here,” she said.

Quirino, for her part, said accepting the offer was the greatest decision of her life.

“We are entering into a new era of pageants, in keeping with our mission and values. With more than 15 years as an officer serving Rotary International Districts 3818 and 3830, I have found the focus on community development by the organizers of Miss World congruent with my continuing advocacies,” Quirino said. “It’s my commitment to be a catalyst for women and children’s health, development and empowerment. Socio-civic undertakings will be a core activity of Miss World Philippines.”

Applicants to the Miss World Philippines must be 17 to 24 years old, tall, has a big heart for service, has beauty, intelligence and love for her country.

I just watch the trailer in youtube about Black Swan. Many people are giving good review about this film and I can't wait to see it in the big Screen. By the way Natalie Portman won best actress in comedy category portraying the main character in Black Swan. The movie about a young ballet dancer Nina Sayers which develop a paranoia. Portman did a rigorous training as a ballerina and used a method way of acting to portray as a ballet dancer in this film. Though at a press conference in London she said she was more of a "pleasure-seeker" than a "self-punisher," Portman described the grueling training she underwent for the film, and how mid-way through shooting the film she suffered a dislocated rib.
"We were doing five hours a day of training that was three hours of ballet and then we would swim a mile and tone for two hours," Portman said.
"You really understand the discipline, the rigor, the willingness to work through physical pain," she explained of the physical demands on ballet dancers.
Not only did she have to train as a ballerina, she also had to embody the friable emotional state of a young girl cracking under pressure.

"You know, my mouth would be hanging open or you'd have your concentration face, which is all sort of furrowed. Half the time, they'd be trying to get me not to have my tongue sticking out. Then to add to that, OK, I have to be acting in the scene."
"Black Swan" is set in a fictional New York ballet company, where highly strung young women battle it out for star roles. Portman plays a corps dancer given the role of a lifetime: that of the Princess Odette in Tchaikovsky's classic ballet, Swan Lake.
But not only does her character have to portray the good princess Odette, who is turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer; she also plays the sorcerer's daughter Odile, the black swan of the film's title.
Dancing as the two swans proves psychologically unsettling for Sayers, a good girl required to turn bad for the role of Odile. She is goaded by the ballet company director (played by French actor Vincent Cassel) into exploring her dark side for the role.
Faced with competition from ballerina Lily (played by Mila Kunis), and deposed prima ballerina Beth (played by Winona Ryder), Portman's character is increasingly wracked with paranoia.
Portman explained that she was drawn to the world of ballet, which she sees as "a particularly female art form that is still dominated by men," because she wanted to represent the "larger world of women, you know, where one woman gets too old, or out of shape, and there's a younger woman that's going to be slipped into her place."
Exploring that world is fitting for an actress used to working in Hollywood since childhood.
Portman was born in 1981 in Jerusalem and moved to America soon after. She made her acting debut in 1994 as Mathilda Luc Besson's film "Leon," about the relationship between a young girl and a hit man.
Since then, she has played Queen Amidala in George Lucas' big-budget "Star Wars" prequels, and was nominated for an Academy Award in 2005 for her performance in the film "Closer."

Portman, now 29, said she was pleased to have had the experience of her 20's before embarking on the demanding role of Nina. She likens her experience as a child actress to that of her character in "Black Swan."
"I started as a child actress and you just sort of want to make people happy and it's almost like that pageant thing where you see the little kids doing their dance or whatever and then look around away to their mom, like, 'How did I do?'" Portman said.
She continued: "And to get to a point where you are really trying to make yourself happy and trying to fulfil yourself through your performance is a whole new experience, and I really gained that in my 20s and it gave me a perspective that really helped with the film."
Manohla Dargis in the New York Times described Portman's performance as "smashing, bruising, wholly committed," while Geoffrey Macnab in The Independent newspaper called it "scintillating." With a Golden Globe win, many are wondering if Portman will get an Academy Award nomination too.
But while she says she finds the awards buzz "flattering," Portman also said that audience reaction is most important to her.
"Just to see people engaging so passionately about it is your greatest dream while making a movie," she said.

Charice Mom Apologized

MANILA, Philippines- After drawing negative feedback from the entertainment press, the mother of international singing sensation Charice on Monday came to the defense of her daughter.

Charice’s mom, Racquel, appealed for understanding from the entertainment press, who got mad after the 18-year-old songstress refused to grant them an interview last January 8.

Charice performed with Mr Pure Energy Gary Valenciano at SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds two weeks ago where they also launched their individual scents created by Aficionado Germany Perfumes by Joel Cruz.

Before and after Charice's performance, no one was reportedly allowed to get an interview with the young singer. Also, fans were prohibited from going near her. The rumor was that Oprah Winfrey ordered the tight security.

Racquel explained that her daughter was already too tired and wanted to rest after the show.

“Kasi ‘yong araw na dumating si Charice, mula umaga, natapos ‘yong concert halos 1 a.m,” she said. “Pero sana naman ay naiintindihan nila na napapagod din ‘yong bata, na kailangan ding magpahinga. Hindi nila kasi alam kung gaano ka-busy si Charice sa America para mag-comment ang iba ng ganoon,” she said.

“All the time naman na uuwi kami, lahat ‘yan (interviews) ay napagbibigyan namin,” she added.

Racquel also reiterated that, contrary to criticisms, Charice has never forgotten the Philippines and her humble beginnings. “Lagi kong pinapaisip sa kanya, there’s no place like home. Home niya ang Philippines. Iba pa rin ang mga Filipino.”

‘Disappointed’

“How sad! It’s so unbecoming of a Filipino artist na ganoon ang ginawa niyang trato sa media. Parang sorry ha, pero yuck! Disappointed ako sa kanya,” added Leo Bukas of People’s Taliba.

If some were disappointed, columnist and talent manager Alfie Lorenzo has a different take on the issue.

He said: “The security are just doing their job. Ganyan talaga ang security sa Amerika, sinusunod lang, kaya walang pagkukulang si Charice.”

Racquel has apologized to the press over the incident.
