John Lennon handwritten lyrics sell for $1.2 million

John Lennon

This is John Lennon latest News. I am not a fan of him although I like the Beatles songs. We all knew that he was gunned in 1980's and maybe this is a karma for him for saying that he is more popular than Christ. Anyway his handwritten lyrics sell for $1.2 Million.

Here is the news:

NEW YORK – John Lennon's handwritten lyrics to "A Day in the Life" sold for $1.2 million in New York on Friday, almost doubling the estimated price, Sotheby's auction house said.

Considered one of the Beatles' greatest songs and the final track on "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", the lyrics were sold to a private American collector on the telephone after an intense six minute bidding battle, Sotheby's said.

"The outstanding price achieved for these handwritten lyrics is testament to the iconic status of the Beatles, John Lennon and especially this song," said David Redden, Sotheby's Books and Manuscripts Department international chairman.

According to Sotheby's, the record for Beatles lyrics at auction is $1.25 million paid for "All You Need Is Love" in 2005.

Sotheby's described "A Day in the Life" as "the revolutionary song that marked the Beatles' transformation from pop icons to artists."

The single sheet of paper features a rough draft of the lyrics, including crossings out and a spelling error where "film" is written as "flim".

On the reverse side is a neater version written in capital letters and with fewer corrections.

Apparently added later is the line: "I love to turn you on", for which the song was banned by the BBC when it first came out in 1967 because the words were deemed to be a reference to taking drugs.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band topped the U.S. and British charts, won four Grammy awards in 1968 and is ranked number 26 in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

The lyrics once belonged to Mal Evans, the Beatles' road manager.

Harrison Ford, Calista Flockhart get Married

harrison ford and Calista flockhart
We all know who is Harrison Ford right? I knew him when he was casted in Star war movies in the '80's and many other blockbusters movies later on. Just now I read this news about him getting married with Calista Flockhart at the age of 67. Do you think he will still enjoy his sexual life at this age? Well with the Viagra around I think he will. If that is what he wants and the woman then why not, companionship is still important and will be important as you go older.

Here is the news about his "I do":

LOS ANGELES– Actors Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart have finally said "I do," marrying in a ceremony at the governor's mansion in the US state of New Mexico, according to media reports on Wednesday.

The couple's representative confirmed to People magazine that Ford, 67, the star of the "Indiana Jones" and "Star Wars" films, tied the knot with 45-year-old Flockhart in Santa Fe on Tuesday. The ceremony was conducted by Governor Bill Richardson.

Ford is currently filming "Cowboys and Aliens" in the southwestern state.

He reportedly proposed to Flockhart on Valentine's Day last year. The Hollywood couple, who met at the Golden Globe awards in 2002, are parents of Flockhart's nine-year-old adopted son Liam.

This is the third marriage for Ford who has 4 other older children and 2 grandchildren, and the first for Flockhart who played the title role in the quirky TV legal sitcom "Ally McBeal" from 1997 until 2002
